Actress/singer Lucy Lawless joins us in the studio this morning to talk about her starring role in the new Starz series Spartacus: Blood & Sand, which premieres this Friday.
Spartacus: Blood and Sand is an upcoming Starz original TV series that focuses on Spartacus, a Roman gladiator, who later became the leader of a major slave uprising against the Roman Republic.
Lawless plays the sexually voracious Lucretia, who takes the gladiator Crixus for a lover, but longs for a child she is so far unable to bear. She thinks Spartacus is an uncontrollable beast that has cost too much and fears he will bring misfortune upon the ludus.
The New Zealand native is most famously known for her title role as Xena the Warrior Princess and recently starred in the hit sci-fi show Battlestar Gallactica.
Following her run on Celebrity Duets, Lawless' singing career has launched with great success and has enjoyed back-to-back sold out concerts.
Spartacus: Blood and Sand premieres on Friday, January, 22 at 10pm on Starz. For more information, visit www.starz.com/originals/spartacus.
