Conan Stevens on Spartacus: Vengeance Interview with Comic Book Movie

Image

The site Comic Book Movie interviews Conan Stevens. Conan makes a guest appearance on Spartacus: Vengeance. Read the excerpt below:

You've seen Conan Stevens as Sir Gregor Clegane in HBO's Game of Thrones and you'll see him again in numerous projects, most notably Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit. He's über busy but I was able to snatch a moment to pick his brain.

Conan was asked about his role on Spartacus: Vengeance:

Mark Julian: You'll also be featured in an upcoming episode of Spartacus, what can you say about that role?

Conan Stevens: I can say that I'll be appearing in Season 02 Episode 07, which should air in the US on STARZ around the first week of March 2012. One person described the role as a "Guest Starring" role, [but] I'll go on record saying you definitely won't miss me in that episode. Being that Spartacus is very action orientated and so are my major skill sets you an guess I won't be playing a shopkeeper.

The best thing about that role was that it fit in perfectly with a break in filming "The Hobbit" and it was a series that I had been watching for about 12 months for an opening as I really wanted "Spartacus" on my resume alongside "Game of Thrones" and "the Hobbit" - I was sure that those three mentioned together would open the audition door to almost any movie that I will be interested in working on.

Liam McIntyre debuts as Spartacus when the series returns for its second season,
Sunday, January 29 at 9 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET

(November 17, 2011 - Toronto, Canada) Corus Entertainment's Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral's The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) present Spartacus: Vengeance, the third installment of Starz's action-adventure original drama series about the Roman Republic's most famous rebel. The 12-part season debuts Sunday, January 29 on Movie Central at 9 p.m. PT and on The Movie Network at 10 p.m. ET.

In the season finale of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus led a brutal rampage at the House of Batiatus that more than fulfilled his promise of killing his adversaries. When Season 2 premieres - just a few weeks after that massacre - Capua is in an uproar and the gladiators have escaped and formed an uneasy alliance. Spartacus is still looking to exact revenge on the man responsible for killing his wife, but he soon comes to understand his life may be about something greater than avenging Sura's death: building an army, setting free the slaves and toppling the Roman Empire.

Spartacus: Vengeance marks the debut of Liam McIntyre in the title role of Spartacus. He is joined by returning cast members Lucy Lawless as Lucretia; Peter Mensah as Oenomaus (once known as Doctore); Manu Bennett as Crixus; Dustin Clare as Gannicus; Nick E. Tarabay as Ashur; and Katrina Law as Mira,

Season 2 brings the return of Spartacus: Blood and Sand cast members Craig Parker as Gaius Cladius Glaber, the Roman commander who condemned Spartacus to slavery, and Viva Bianca as Ilithyia, his cunning wife. Cynthia Addai-Robinson also joins the cast as Naevia, the former body slave to Lucretia who was banished from the Ludus for engaging in a love affair with Crixus.

In Western Canada, Spartacus: Vengeance will be available in High Definition on Movie Central HD, and on demand and online with Movie Central On Demand, following its network premiere. In Eastern Canada, the series will be available in High Definition and on demand, and on The Movie Network OnLine with Bell TV Online, Rogers On Demand Online and Videotron's Illico Web.

On the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus that concluded "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," the gladiator rebellion continues and begins to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic in "Spartacus: Vengeance." Gaius Claudius Glaber and his Roman troops are sent to Capua to crush the growing band of freed slaves that Spartacus leads before it can inflict further damage. Spartacus is presented the choice of satisfying his personal need for vengeance against the man that condemned his wife to slavery and eventual death or making the larger sacrifices necessary to keep his budding army from breaking apart. Containing all of the blood-soaked action, exotic sexuality, and villainy and heroism that has come to distinguish the series, the tale of Spartacus resumes in epic fashion.
